I Have Learned So Much ~ Hafiz

So much from God
That I can no longer

A Christian, a Hindu, a Muslim,
A Buddhist, a Jew.

The Truth has shared so much of Itself
With me

That I can no longer call myself
A man, a woman, an angel,
Or even pure

Love has
Befriended Hafiz so completely
It has turned to ash
And freed

Of every concept and image
My mind has ever known.

  1. This is timely Darina. Since creating this Temple I have learned a lot about myself and the action has freed me from a burden of pain that I had been carrying. Remarkable really. I now see that I have far more to give thanks for than to feel aggrieved about.

  2. Wonderful —

this poem frees me also from the need
to make a littany of dreams and aspirations,
as surely the only worthy goal is:

learning to get out of the way.

  3. Heather,
your gratitude and generosity of spirit not only unburden your pain, but free you to feel and be things and experiences unimaginable before…

    Papa and Soulsister,
You Are out of your own way for you choose to be the best and the most creative as you can be and in your choice and journey we all surrender to the beautiful power streaming through us…

    Terry, Soulwright and Sage,
I rejoice in the beauty of the beholders for it reflects your beautiful souls.

And thanks to the seer Hafiz for sharing this love with us so gracefully and heart-fully…

  4. I’m floating here and there looking for posts I’ve missed and enjoying them immensely – this one is bliss – which just goes to show that floating round the site is like looking for, and finding, treasure.

  5. Being new to Soul Food, I am so thoroughly delighted as I peruse the many links, sometimes getting lost in the maze of possibilities. But as I wander about, sometimes confused and feeling disoriented, when I do come across a clearing with an incredible poem and site like this, I am enchanted once again. Thanks for the posting and art.

  6. The Persian (Iranian) poet speaks the truth. Hafiz lives on, amongst us, in our soul. The honest truth is that Iran is still the country of art and poetry and not the lies that media has made it to be…
